Review on 📷 Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS2 Yellow Waterproof Digital Camera: 14.1 MP, 4.6x Optical Zoom, Image Stabilization by Joshua Gallegos

I have both TS1 and TS2. I fell while hiking and damaged the TS1, making it no longer waterproof. Since the TS2 uses the same batteries (I had 3) I ordered the TS2 as a replacement. The TS2 has more pixels in its small sensor (to boost sales), so it's inherently louder. To try to repair the damage, it uses heavy image processing to make images look good from afar. They do. But when you PS your images or look at them at the pixel level, they're mind-bogglingly bad. And this "feature" cannot be disabled. I mainly use these cameras for their great video and printing up to 4x6 so they are great cameras for hiking. However, if you're looking for studio prints, consider the TS1, which is cheaper. TS2 has an artificial HDR mode (actually flattens the contrast curve). If you underexpose by 1-2 EV and then lighten it up in the editor, the result is actually HDR-like. This mode can also be used to create "HDR" movies. Something like that. I would still give this camera 4 stars for its great video and features. Its weakness lies in its "Intelligent Resolution". I've had four pannies in the last ten years, but this could very well be my last. I see Panasonic promoting IR in their expensive Four Thirds micro cameras. I would avoid her like the plague. Panasonic knows how to make a camera that captures clean images (like the LX3) with a larger physical sensor and fewer pixels, but they've chosen that route for their consumer cameras.
