Review on ๐ŸŽฎ Glossy Black Xbox 360 Wireless Controller: Unleash Your Gaming Freedom by Nick Whitman

Not happy with this purchase. General.

*Seller Update* - I have decided to return this. Transacting through Revain has had no issues with shipping, returns and refunds. I only used it for about an hour and wanted to give it 3 stars **except for the price**. For $50.00 ($49.99), I expected an original, genuine controller like the one that came with my system; not (what appears to be) a facsimile. I haven't decided yet if I'm going to go through the return issue or not. If I decide to leave it I will update my review if the quality continues (which I doubt) or deteriorates (which I suspect). As soon as I opened it, I found it suspicious. I compared the weight to my original controller and it's definitely lighter. I was looking for an original Xbox 360 controller, not a clone like this one. The sensations are different, the bumper buttons are noisy, the battery is clumsy. It's not "shiny" but rather a bit rough. Both the thumb grips and the grip in general are slippery (whereas the original Xbox 360 controller thumb grips have rubber contacts that don't slip at all, which is very important for fast gameplay). In addition, the item has tiny marks and scratches - despite the packaging, I am not sure if it is really new as described. **Update: A few weeks after first use** As intended; This controller is of poor quality compared to the original Xbox 360 controller to warrant a downgrade from the original 2 stars to 1. I would be better off buying a refurbished used controller for half the price. The only good thing I can say about it is that it *works* (for now; who knows for how long), but that's where the benefit lies. As mentioned above, the buttons on the bumper are loud, but otherwise so are all the other buttons. So if you're playing a fast-paced game with lots of input (like fighting games), the noise will distract everyone within earshot. HYPERsensitive - I compared it to my original controller. This makes gameplay almost impossible as the camera angle (the default right thumb input in first person shooters) is everywhere. It's difficult to point in a specific direction, much less aim effectively at a moving target. There is a power consumption issue. I plan to take this thing apart in my free time (I won't be returning it and maybe I can learn something). I can then pinpoint what the problem is, but from what I can do there is a connection problem in the circuit. I used two AA batteries that ran from my original controller and while they worked fine in the original controller (with the usual blinking green battery light), this controller died within a few seconds. seconds. I tested the resistance at the four pins shown in the photos where the battery box pins meet the controller. The readings varied widely: circuits that should have been open showed as closed, values changed, etc. Also, when I looked for a power problem, I found that this circuit did not have an FCC ID. You can also see a few other differences in the photos that I have yet to investigate. I switch these controllers regularly because I only use the left stick when playing fighting games. I have a few joysticks, but I prefer a gamepad unless I'm somewhere comfortable using a joystick. I'll probably see if I can take the joystick off this controller and solder it to one of the many originals I have. But I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone looking for a viable Xbox 360 controller, especially if that's all they can do with it. **Latest update** Don't buy this. In addition to all of the above, now (just a few days after posting my previous update) the battery is dying frequently and randomly. This controller is a waste of money.
