Review on 🌬️ Noctua NH-U12A Premium CPU Cooler: High-Performance Silent Cooling Solution with NF-A12x25 PWM Fans (120mm, Brown) by Anthony Wilson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great fridge, poor packaging/delivery

First of all, this is a great fridge. I'm not running a powerful machine or overclocking, I'm just interested in a reliable, quiet machine. I have an AMD Ryzen 5 3600X that idled at around 55C and hit 70C under load with the stock Wraith Spire cooler it came with. After installing the NH-U12A, its idle temperature is around 48°C, under load it is 70°C and the fans only run at 60% of the maximum speed. The temperature drop is large, but the main advantage is the noise level. The stock Wraith Spire was fine at idle, but as temperatures started to rise it would rev up and down, constantly changing fan speeds and pitch up and down, which was very annoying. The NH-U12A's fans spin quietly and are barely noticeable compared to the fans in my case. A significant improvement in all categories. The only downside is really little to do with the cooler. When I got mine all the fins on the radiator were bent on one side. It took me about 20 minutes to bend them back so they were almost straight. Either the radiator packaging needs an overhaul (doubtful) or Revain riders need to be more careful with handling (most likely), I don't know. In any case, you should study yours carefully before installing it to be on the safe side. I was pressed for time and couldn't wait for a replacement so I just fixed it the best I could and installed it anyway.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
