I bought these for my 5.5 year old granddaughter to wear in winter boots. I bought winter boots a little larger so they fit snugly in the middle of winter but they kept falling off the first time she put them on. Kids call these socks "thick socks" and they do a great job with their boots. They also keep her legs nice and warm - which is the highlight for me. Highly recommended.
