The bag looks beautiful. It’s a nice size and has that vintage look but for the price, I honestly can’t say without a doubt that it’s leather. Since it’s lined, it’s impossible to see the back of what would be the hide. Any small strips that are exposed, like the piece that Velcros to keep a pocket closed, seem very pliable, shiny and not real. Overall the bag smells nothing of leather but does have a very strong dye/perfume smell. I’ve had many pieces of freshly dyed leather —imported and domestic, vegetable tanned and otherwise—and none have had this intense smell.A further piece that made me return in my bag came already scratched. I recognize this is something that would inherently "weather” on its own, but at $150+, I’d expect it came in new condition. Additionally, this company should reconsider the masking tape used on the bottom of the bag’s feet. I imagine the intention is to keep them from getting scratched? (From being inside a plastic bag and not a box during shipping?) Either way they leave a gummy residue and look classless. It’s one of the things that made me start questioning the whole piece.If you like the look of leather and don’t need it to 100% be on the up and up, this is a great bag to try. It’s flattering and a lovely size but, for me, I just couldn’t say with certainty it was what I was intentionally spending my money on.
