Lids made of a strange material that attracts dirt

Lids always come out of the dishwasher with dirt. I do not understand why. The type of plastic the lids are made of attracts dirt. I bought glass jars to protect my kids from weird chemicals that can leach out of plastic and now I can't use them because the lids are covered in a weird thin layer of dirt all the time.
