Experience with my device: Looking for a desktop replacement that I would never have to open, I researched various devices, checked availability and MSI was one of two brands that came up. Considering it has 8 CPU cores, the battery life is short. I wish Windows had more full throttle settings. There is a bug in Windows 10 where upgrading from the Windows Store may have the wrong version installed - if you upgrade to PRO you may get ENTERPRISE. This is a known error and an internet search will show you how to fix it. It is still baffling that the unexpected can come out of this situation. My device came with a defective SSD because MSI Dragon didn't update the values correctly and I got blue screens. As far as I remember, Safe Mode had its own issues. I contacted support who sent a replacement drive very quickly and it works great. A NOTICE. The L-shaped case has a sticker warning you to remove the back. MSI specifically informed me that the parts that came with the machine are covered under warranty and that the buyer can replace them themselves. I have an A+ certificate, but that's a moot point. Just be careful when aligning the SSD connector - don't slide or insert it backwards. Read or ask how to do it, but there are also videos that will help. A small portion of the circuitry is sticking out of the letter "L" so you have to be careful. Temperatures - These are great for most applications and are incredibly fast. But if you're using 3D ray tracing, video editing software, or anything that computationally intensive, you really need an 8-core, multi-threaded system and 64GB of RAM *because* temperatures soar to 98C under load. This is slightly better than some of the brands I've researched and not bad considering how many cores it has - I wouldn't get a processor with more cores or a faster one as I would likely hit that unwanted 100C milestone , so I chose i7. Adjusting CPU affinity lowers CPU temperatures slightly, but at the cost of longer render times and selective wear and tear on cores that are still running (wish there was a better way to throttle manually). Setting the fans to maximum also helps, but I probably wouldn't render 24/7 all day. I was hoping to see 80C or less, but other brands are getting over 100C and as much as I want to mention some models from these brands have since been replaced and may have better cooling subsystems. And some of these brands cost *more* for comparable or even lesser hardware specs and/or have fancy heat pipe designs - but that's another story. In general, this is a very good device. It's a pretty solid machine for the price, especially when the included SSD doesn't cause any problems, but MSI is aware of the issue and is quick to fix it if you come across one. ***RECOMMENDED***
