Review on πŸ’₯ Powerful Black Polk Audio CSW155 Subwoofer for Enhanced Audio Experience by Joe Jordan

impressive shaker. Be prepared to buy an amp to match.

I finished and installed my basement this year before the drywall was up. The large brackets and size ensure a secure fit between stands. The bracing made the entire unit as strong and durable as the walls and stand themselves. There are 2x6 studs on my wall so there was a lot of space, almost too much. It would be nice if Polk made a thicker version for 2x6 instead of 2x4. The overlay worked great to protect him throughout the rest of the build. I also bought the recommended Polk SWA500 amp to power it, along with a Yamaha AV 840 to power it. The subwoofer sits in the corner of my room, about 20 feet by 35 feet. The outer wall is brick, which I think helps eliminate vibration. The TV, sofa and listening area is about 20 x 20 at one end of my room. This isn't a technical analysis, but the subwoofer has such power that it seems like the entire wall and sofa are shaking. Listen very impressive. However, it surprises me that I notice on all levels that the sound comes from the corner. I was expecting it to be more omnidirectional, but maybe it's a matter of tuning, more break-in, or maybe more real estate warrants a second subwoofer. Either way, this is a great unit. When budgeting, be prepared to invest in the required separate amplifier. However, it surprises me that I notice on all levels that the sound comes from the corner.
