The toilet roll holder I inherited when I moved in was not only "too long," but it was also incredibly strong in terms of the spring - so much so that someone spread the end holders more to get incredible resilience keep. I hated the whole setup as the reel was moving and you could always see the cheap plastic holder due to the huge gaps on each side of the reel. Finally, when I couldn't take it anymore, I removed one side of the metal bracket from the wall. and reinstalled it as suggested with normal TP reel spacing (also had to putty and repaint it) - then bought this reel seat. It's the PERFECT size and fits snugly on the sides of the holders. It doesn't roll in my mounts - it sits tight in mine. But it doesn't have to be folded - the paper can do that itself. This is the perfect size for a normal-sized TP - PERFECT! It's also fairly easy to swap out the reel (without gouging out your eyes like I've always experienced with other super spring reels). It's plastic, but I thought the chrome paint I got looked decent enough, and it goes perfectly with the metal side brackets I had. PLUS you don't even really see it as it perfectly holds the TP roll that almost completely covers it. Problem solved - my TP doesn't annoy me anymore! I would recommend, especially for the price!
