Review on 🔪 Vitamix SELF-DETECT™ 12-Cup Food Processor Attachment by Joshua Douglas

I was very pleased with the attachment for the Vitamix stand mixer and after using it some people just loved it. I liked the idea of using my Vitamix as a real food processor, but was concerned if it would compete with my dedicated Magimix 3200XL food processor. Magimix food processors are made in France by Robot Coup, the company that invented the food processor, and as such are known to perform well on any task. In a direct comparison of their performance, Vitamix performed very well alongside Magimix. Due to the gearing required, the Vitamix starts out a little slower than the venerable Magimix, but I didn't notice a huge difference in overall performance between the two machines. They've both made equally creamy batches of hummus, sliced equally well, shredded equally well, made the same nut butters, and cut equally well with gluten-free cookie dough. In my testing, the Magimix had a slight advantage when chopping with a utility knife due to its near-instantaneous rotation compared to the Vitamix's gradual acceleration. I love my Magimix 3200XL and it's a very good food processor, but I'm replacing it with my new Vitamix attachment for a number of reasons. First I need to clear out the extra appliance in the kitchen and a lot of unnecessary details that take up too much space in my closets. Second, I like the Vitamix design better. The center portion of the work bowl, which the drive shaft runs through, is much higher than the Magimix, so food won't fall through when scooping out, or liquids won't seep all over the base of the unit. I also like the snap-on mechanism on the Vitamix lid better, and the plastic used feels thicker and more durable. Third, the Vitamix's drive shaft has metal splines rather than the Magimix's all-plastic shaft. Finally, I've heard that Magimix warranty service can be a nightmare compared to the excellent support that Vitamix is known for. So you can feel confident in purchasing the Vitamix attachment if you want the functionality of a real food processor. It works so well and saves so much space that I find a new home for my favorite Magimix and replace it with my new Vitamix stand mixer attachment. Bravo Vitamix. Everything they do is extraordinary.
