So I bought a truck from my father. Chevrolet Z-71 2006 release. He recently had an apartment and needed help with height of street to change it for him (he is 70 years old). They got out and after 3 hours they still couldn't get the tire out from under the truck. They had to cut a steel cable to get him out of there. It turns out that the original version has a fuse that holds it even after it's lowered and doesn't release the tire until an additional latch on the mount is pressed. If you don't know these "Features". you were unlucky When I got the truck the spare tire was in the back and the OE winch didn't work due to a cut wire. I ordered this from Revain and when it arrived I watched some videos to see how to install it (where I learned about the added security feature). It doesn't have that secondary "hook" and drops the tire easily. It installed like a charm (I once broke the only nut holding the original part in place. Use the PB Blaster and let it sit for a minute before getting to work). I couldn't be happier with the result. No more spare parts in the back of the truck!
