This is a cute little profile kettle for my kitchen and I had high hopes for my brewed coffee. But there are a couple of significant issues and I will be returning it once my new kettle arrives. At first I gave it more stars, but after a few weeks of use, when the toxic smell hasn't gone away, I wouldn't recommend this kettle to anyone who cares about their health: 1. The first thing I noticed was a strange one Odor. At first I thought it was a non-standard problem. I washed it thoroughly before use, in case there were any leftovers from the manufacturing process, I boiled a few pots of water and disposed of them according to the instructions. It didn't help. So I did a taste test. I boiled water, poured some of it into a cup and let it cool. Then I poured in another cup of my delicious reverse osmosis water, the same water I used in the kettle. When it cooled to the same temperature, I tried it. The water from the kettle had a distinctive "nasty" taste that made me wonder what crazy chemicals I was drinking that were camouflaged by the stronger taste of coffee or tea and were subtly ruining my drinks. I can't explain where the smell is coming from. But it's not like "Premium Stainless Steel Interior for Pure Flavor". The taste will deteriorate if there is water left in the pot, so I always empty it and refill it before using.2. The manufacturer claims that "it only takes 2-3 minutes for the kettle to boil a full kettle". That's a blatant lie. I live at sea level and brew a full pot at 4:30. That's 1:30-2:30 more than advertised. This is not ice cold mountain well water. San Diego water comes out warm anyway.3. The kettle's metal is so light that the water doesn't even stay hot for the duration of a cup of coffee. Along with the taste, I wonder if it's actually stainless steel. Over the years I've had several stainless steel teapots that were tasteless and strong enough to keep the water hot long enough to warm a cold cup of tea. When pouring water from a full pot, hot water will spill out from under the lid as the kettle's spout draws water from below, and if poured too quickly, out of the MAX. full pan, it pours out from under the lid. I burned myself several times because of it. It also creates clutter on the counter. The instructions state that the "leaking" from the bottom is due to the steam pipe trapping water, which also happens when you tilt the pot slightly toward the handle, which may have burned me at one point. The bottom also has a hole for an overflow kettle. The bottom water leak happened to me only once, and after that I was sure I wasn't going to fill the MAX mark. !), the reason I am returning the jug is an unpleasant chemical smell. I think the Californian designers should reach out to the Chinese manufacturer and find out what's going on. Seems poisonous to me!
