My 10 year old boy needs a tie for school every day and this fits perfectly. He used to use a zippered tie, which is comfortable but loosens too easily over time. With that I taught him that you just keep it tied and when you take it off at the end of the day it only loosens enough to pull it over your head but not enough to untie the knot. Then you don't have to tie it every day, you can just pull it over your head and pull it back. So it's as simple as a zipper, but prettier and won't unravel during the day.
