I've been wearing a plain poppy since the beginning of November (last day of wearing is tomorrow, November 11th). I work with seniors, many of whom are veterans themselves, and I've had conversations about what the poppy is and why they wear it. Start by asking her why he is different from the others. I wish we hadn't lost loved ones during World War I (and subsequent wars) and I hope the poppy symbol survives. If you have a veteran in your family, you know they don't like to talk about that time, but I've had very positive feedback on the poppy.
