Review on Red Victorinox Swiss Army Huntsman Pocket Knife by Johnny Bloomer

Revainrating 4 out of 5

My child's first pocket knife

What's not to like about the Victorinox Swiss Army Knife? This is a great first knife (or any knife). Here are a few reasons why I chose this knife as my kids' first knife. no blade lock. It may seem counterintuitive, but I want my kids to learn how to use a knife properly without the false sense of security of a lock that can fail. Learning on a knife without a lock teaches them to use the knife carefully and correctly. 2. This model meets the minimum requirements for outdoor entertainment. I wanted to make sure they had at least a blade, wood saw, awl, and tweezers. There are many models that include these tools, but I'll point out why this model is next.3. Scissors. I personally prefer swiss army knives without scissors. I'd rather just use a blade to cut most things or real scissors to cut paper. However as this is their first pocket knife I would prefer if my kids could use scissors instead of a blade if that is possible and safer. For example, if I need to cut a rope on my or someone else's clothing, I feel confident enough to just use my blade. If my kids are trying to do the same job, I'd rather use scissors because it's safer. multiple tools against one blade. I love that I can teach my kids the many ways to use this knife. Instead of just teaching them how to use a knife, I can use this knife to teach them survival skills that can save their lives. it is red. the color makes it easy to find the knife if you accidentally drop it.6. it's nice and wide without being too big for your hands. I prefer a thinner knife for my edc (if I carry a sak I carry a camper model) but this model is the perfect size to fill a child's hand and ensure they are a good purchase and safe to use are.7. Corkscrew. All my kids wear glasses and the corkscrew can hold a mini screwdriver to fasten the glasses. It also works great for tying intricate knots to untie. Sandvik steel. This steel is quite soft for an everyday knife. Well, for modern knives. it was good for our grandparents. Soft steel is easier to sharpen anyway, which means it's easier for them to learn how to sharpen a knife. it's also stainless steel, which is important where we live. This steel makes the knife ideal for learning proper knife care. I could probably continue, but I don't have to. This is a great knife for a young person to learn. It's also a great knife for anyone who needs its features. I hope my kids learn how to use all these tools. If they choose higher quality knives in the future, I'm sure they will still have them on hand due to the many useful features. The reason I'm giving it a one star rating is that it's not as versatile as the Victorinox. . for years they have been making scales with a pen slot and a straight pin. All models must include these additional tools. Each model must come with a pen and needle, and each model with a corkscrew must also come with an eyeglass screwdriver. I don't understand why not all possible tools are included. Please turn it on, Victorinox.
