Review on πŸ”¨ Stanley 69-122 Wood Handle Scratch Awl: A Reliable Tool for Precise Markings and Crafts by Tara Ford

Revainrating 2 out of 5

"Bloated " reviews, like the tool itself, probably from China

This tool disappoints. I have an old Stanley awl from about 25 years ago and it was a great tool! The shaft is in one piece, the tip is screwed into a high-quality wooden handle. This new take on the awl is nothing more than a headless nail half inserted into a handle. The tip is glued - not very good. I don't know when Stanley moved production of this instrument to China, but the quality of the current instrument is very poor. Revain should limit the activity of paid reviewers giving it a 5 star rating with a few superlatives added to the description. If you're looking for a cheap (disposable) Chinese awl, take a look at Harbor Freight - the quality is better than them too.
