Review on ๐Ÿ”ต VersaColor Ultimate Pigment Inkpad in Small Size - Royal Blue by Tsukineko by Jennifer Roberts

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Surprised.

So when I received this, the first thing that surprised me was the size. The size is right, I just didn't understand that it's damn small. Can be good for single-letter stamps or stamps with other smaller motifs, but impractical for stamps with longer rows of numbers (reason for purchase). As for the quality of the ink, it's hard to say. I can only compare it to the Versa Red I have and the standard Staples brand large ink pads. Staples Large Black Ink is by far the best in terms of true pigment and stamp quality. I've found that blue ink doesn't get along from stamp to stamp and that you have to be "careful" and stamp quickly. (Ink tends to smudge or ink will smear around the edges of the design, leaving the print lighter than the surrounding edges) Raspberry red, I find, handles these issues a little better. The pad itself is very spongy and very different from traditional ink pads. I number every page of my new journals that I put lots of stuff in (collages, drawings etc) to get the job done and I appreciate the inconsistencies but for a perfectionist maybe this isn't the best choice? It's difficult to say. There aren't many other options so I guess it really depends on your project.

Pros
  • stamp and ink pad
Cons
  • boring packaging
