The base of the tree was broken. A replacement was even sent!
I bought this tree and it looked very good when it arrived but the screws in the base didn't fit. I know these bases as I bought another tree with the same base and these screws fit. So I figured it was just a coincidence and asked them to send a replacement as I figured a replacement would probably fit. Had not. Again, the base of the second tree did not have the correct size holes for the screws shown. I ended up sending both trees back and buying a tree from a completely different company that also used the same base as this company. Bolts are a great fit for this new company. So the problem is definitely not my screwing ability. The producers of this tree are sloppy.
