Good quality materials but dangerously bad design

It was intermittent and made arcing noises. I opened it to find the problem. What I saw is an awful design. The connection between the metal on the side of the jack and the metal on the side of the plug is loose and not even spring loaded. Metal parts are hardly pressed together by plastic tabs that hold the case together (see photo). Certainly there is an arc at the point of contact. This is dangerous as it can damage your electronics and even catch fire due to the unstable arcing connection.
