Review on ๐Ÿ“ท Zhiyun Crane V2 Bluetooth 3-Axis Handheld Gimbal Stabilizer with Hard Case, Ideal for ILC Mirrorless Cameras by Jeffrey Crutcher

Revainrating 4 out of 5

First test: wow! So effective and so cheap!

First of all: My first test went great. It may now be the best of its kind. I've read all the reviews I could think of for the other two hot new stabilizers, but a great price and a top-notch review convinced me to order the Zhiyun Crane. Although the Canon 70d isn't listed as a compatible DSLR, the creaking of the 5d gave me hope that my lighter 70d and 35mm f/2 IS combo, rated at less than 1200g, would work - it does! This device has a lot to offer - solid construction, 360ยฐ rotation, simple smartphone software - and maybe compared to other stabilizers that are currently released, it deserves 5 stars. I'm only giving it a 4 because it's a rapidly improving technology and I can think of some small improvements like the Arca-Swiss quick-change system, the quick-change battery compartment (instead of threaded) or the plate that holds the camera rotation protects against even the slightest shift in weight, as the slightest shift in weight can alter the balance of the cam. Actually, the Zhiyun Crane comes with a small Y-shaped piece of metal attached to the front edge of the plate. This should keep the lens facing forward and reduce the chance of the entire camera turning on the ยผ-20 screw. There is one more exam to do. I try not to over-tighten, but I've found that one of the leveling screws needs to be tightened or the camera platform may move when you lower it (I should probably use a 1/4-20 thread). still standing). Also, it would be great to be able to flip the 70d's screen to view it from above or below, or just to get a good view. I don't think the Crane gimbal has a large enough area to the right of the platter to balance the 70d with the screen open. I'm not too surprised. It's not small, weighing about 750 grams without the lens. And like other suspensions, one of the motors usually blocks part of the rear window. The handle may seem long, but after a few minutes of use, I feel that a long handle can come in handy. The tackle is quite heavy and doesn't look like shooting from a buttstock. I'll be using both hands on this long handle most of the time. Overall, the Zhiyun Crane seems like a good buy. I hope to continue after further testing.
