Review on πŸ” K&N Premium Oil Filter: Ultimate Engine Protection for TOYOTA/LEXUS/SUZUKI/CHEVROLET (See Compatible Vehicles) by Victor Houser

Possibly the best oil filter you can buy for a '96 4 cylinder Camry. The only true!

For 1996 Toyota Camry LE owners there are many oil filters to choose from, ranging from $2 to $15. They are all good, some better than others. $4 PS-1003 Performance/Silver (formerly PRO SERIES) - BEST! Please see the second photo from the top left that Revain posted here and see what a wonderful filter this is! The filter is designed to capture 99% of dirt particles between 10 and 15 microns in size. A 1996 4-cylinder Toyota Camry has one of the easiest do-it-yourself oil changes in automotive history with an oil filter on top. I use an EZ-103 drain valve (available here at Revain for about $23) in place of the original drain plug. The EZ-103 makes O/C an easy task, it is very reliable and leak-free when properly installed. Drained oil looks exceptionally clean. Designed in the USA and made in China. The K&N PS-1003 Heavy Duty Oil Filter comes in an attractive PRO package with a durable coating and seal. It features classic K&N RED 66 pleat material, metal end caps and an unrivaled high capacity design. RED's synthetic blended media is what made K&N famous in the first place. And yes. You will receive a red silicone check valve for those of you who think it's important. For just over four bucks here at Revain/Smile, it's well worth taking the time to stock up if you plan on keeping your classic 4-cylinder Toyota for a while. I bought 4 of them here at ROCKTOBER 2018. I have enough filters now to last through 2022. I wouldn't normally recommend unscrewing the oil filter after 45 years of experience, but I'm making an exception with this particular K&N. Lightly apply fresh new oil to protruding K&N seal/gasket. When hand tightening the filter onto the base plate as soon as you feel the gasket touching the plate. STOP, then use the filter head and lightweight ratchet to gently rotate the filter clockwise an additional 3/4 to 1 full turn. That's all! The reason for this exception is that K&N PS filters differ from all others in that they do NOT use a flat rubber gasket/seal. You are using a LIFTING/FALLING O-RING which requires a little more effort to install. Unless you are a Hercules you will not be able to turn the filter by hand from the required 3/4 to 1 full turn. Yes. The oil filter is tight when removed, but you have a ratcheting socket for that. The lubricated rubber gasket provides a tight, professional fit that won't leak when the engine is at full temperature. I have an extremely smooth, quiet 2.2 liter Toyota engine with 203,000 miles and a constant idle speed of 750 rpm. You hardly notice that it's running. And now I really can change the oil and filter once a year. This is far from my previous intervals of 4 months or half a year. Forget the rest. Buy the best. HAPPY CAR AND GOD THANK YOU! I don't know what caused Revain to change their collective mind about "FITMENT", but in 2018 it was called "FIT YOUR 1996 CAMRY LE". NOW.suddenly.right? NOT RIGHT! UPDATE 4/23/2020 I have come to the conclusion that there is NO thinner oil filter for my 1996 Camry 4 cylinder engine. Engine 2.2l. THERE IS NO LEAK if you follow my dressing instructions and I am now planning to extend the O/C interval to two years for SPRING 2020. The smaller size maintains excellent oil pressure at take off and throughout your daily run. The rolling seal has now been adopted by Toyota and other vehicle manufacturers as a new OEM design. PS-1003 is the CORRECT filter as listed on K&N's own website for this vehicle.
