It's very secure when used with certificates issued by trusted Certificate Authorities such as Verisign or Comodo etc., I recommend it to other people who want security in their website/applications! The process of getting them working together can be confusing at first but once you've got all your settings correct then they work really well!! Not any downsides so far - just make sure everything works correctly before moving forward otherwise there may actually not much point using this kind if encryption compared to something else like WIFI Protected Access 2 which uses AES 128bit instead? I was having issues with a web application (Wordpress) and was told to use OpenSSL. I did not realize that it would be so difficult to install and configure. It's not a plug and play product. It required a lot of work to configure. I had to create an SSL certificate and also had to modify my Apache configuration. It took a lot of time and effort to install and get working. I was able to resolve the issue with Wordpress that I was experiencing.
