I don't know how it was approved for safety because it is a dangerous product. I got blisters and my kids and teenage adults got burns too. We followed their instructions to the letter. However, you have to hand in a car that has been exposed to extremely high temperatures. Then, even if you leave it for a while, you have to pick it up and turn it back over, releasing the scalding hot steam (which, if you wince, might cause you to touch the still-hot bottom) and put it back. Obviously some people don't have this problem so I don't know if their hands are Teflon or if they have full arm gloves but that's not normal. Do yourself a favor and keep scrolling, grab a popper (🙋🏻‍♀️) or, if you NEED oil-cooked popcorn, grab microwavable silicone bowls or a mini kettle.
