I got this electric range after trying several serpentine based electric ranges for $10-20. This worked very well. Very easy to unpack. An assembly is not required. Nothing big. Light weight to pick up and take anywhere. A sticker was pasted over the type plate. I took it off as instructed before turning it on. He has a switch. Even in the on position, the plate only starts to heat up when the temperature is set. As the instructions state, there was some steam from the sides for the first few minutes of heating. But the next time I used it, the steam didn't appear. The oven heats up in 2-3 minutes. In use, not only the hob but also the top of the hob and the sides got a little warm. Only the on/off switch and the thermostat were not hot. But for us it's ok. It takes about 15-20 minutes to cool completely. We have used this stove several times on our trip. That worked very well for us.
