I received this recently and am using it at an embroidery thread shop. It serves its purpose well. The supplied paper spools look like cardboard and are fully functional. I now have a mix of plastic and paper spools (the vast majority of them are plastic and I prefer them to paper. I've used paper spools for the occasional bit of thread. What I like about paper spools is that they're easier to write on than plastic ). The paper spools are slightly larger than DMC's plastic spools. I see how the quality degrades when you use paper spools frequently or for a long time since it is paper. They didn't snap or bend when threading, however, and I don't expect them to in my day-to-day use either. I currently have 90 wrapped spools in this box; Most of them are full strand DMC floss. There is room for additional coils. I used a larger filament tray. If I hadn't done that I could have added a few more coils, but certainly not many. This organizer appears to be well made. One issue that heavy/frequent users may run into is the hinges on the box. Having used items with the same design, I know that plastic hinges can become loose over time. I don't think that will (hopefully) happen to me, but if you go in and out of the box frequently for some time, I can see the hinges failing.
