I connected a 1GB SanDisk CF drive to the unit and connected the other end with an IDE cable from my 1990's 386SX. and also. It worked! Okay, I'll admit I was skeptical when I bought it, but it worked great. I'm absolutely thrilled! This old computer is not able to determine the geometry of the hard disk (this function appeared a few years later). So if you have a software tool like OnTrack Disk Manager, it will detect the CHS (Cylinders/Heads/Sectors) of the device connected to the IDE controller. You can then insert these values into CMOS. Of course, you might still need to use the overlay to actually use a 500+ MB hard drive, but as for that CF to IDE bridge, wow, it works out of the box. Excellent work.
