Reviewed by Quilt Female Husband: With winter approaching we needed a way to store her new electric bike. I have all my other bikes hanging by wheels, but with a 10ft ceiling, this bike is too heavy for me to flip and lift by hand. This system seemed to be our best solution. The installation went well. I first decided to attach a 4" x 48" piece of plywood along the truss with 2" screws and then attach 2 brackets to it with my own screws. I bought the velcro straps recommended by some others but I just bent the hooks on the suspenders more to make a tighter loop, yes the rubber covers will slip off but once the hooks are in place they stay in place, as the bike is much heavier at the back it doesn't climb at all evenly. I found that I sometimes had to lift this end during the lift to straighten it. It was really easier with two people. I suspect a regular bike goes up with no problem. I've learned that when the pulley on the End where you pull the rope doesn't go straight up, can jam the locking device and you can't lower the bike This happened because I know the rear of the bike a lot Had to reach deeper than I originally intended as the drive motor is in the rear wheel hub. We were able to resolve the sticky lock situation simply by repositioning the bike. Yes, the cable can detach from the rollers and become trapped between the roller and the bracket, so do not pull the cable to one side. I might have to replace it with something bigger later, but so far so good. Not that we raise and lower it every day. Overall it's great for our needs and for $18 it gets the job done. Update: I just bought another one of these so I can get our 65lb bike rack off the ground and out of the way. I didn't find it necessary to replace the hooks with velcro. I just clamp the ends in a vise and bend the ends more. Since the rubber ends will come loose, simply wrap tape around them to hold them in place. What annoys me the most is the quality of the rope. I think the system could benefit from a better ROUND rope.
