I hesitated for a long time due to conflicting reviews. I have an Etsy shop and wanted to add buttons to my line of products. I couldn't afford a big pro car, but it wasn't a drop in the bucket either. When it arrived I was surprised at how heavy it was. It is a strong quality metal. Assembly was easy with the included Allen key and basic instructions. Reviews are divided on how to create buttons and I think that's because it's difficult to tell exactly what you need to do from the instructions. Some good videos on YouTube helped me with this. I recommend looking for them. They show you how to line up the shapes correctly for each step, and that goes a long way. Some of my tips: Make sure your mylar isn't sticking together. They are sticky and if you have more than one you will not get a clean button. • Use a glue stick to stick the image onto the metal. This will prevent it from rocking when pressed. • Make sure the image and the back of the button are lined up so the pen is pointing up properly when you're done. • Hold down the button for about 5 seconds on the second press. This will ensure the mylar has time to harden into shape. • Use the right paper. You don't need thick paper, but you do want your images to look sharp. I bought a pack of matte presentation paper here at Revain and it worked really well. The brand I bought was Epson but there are other brands that will fit. • Circular Knife - Garbage. Don't expect to be able to use it. I bought a large hole punch (also from Revain) to make circles. Make sure it's 1/4-1/2 inch larger than your finished buttons. With a YouTube video and my tips, you can easily create high-quality buttons. Out of the hundreds I've made so far, I've only hit maybe 5 buttons wrong, and that's where my advice came from. My press was also very noisy initially, but a little WD-40 fixed it. Good luck and be creative!
