How many times have you tried to connect a line from one side of a wooden plank to the other just to guess or try a square? This tool takes the guesswork out of the equation and simplifies the transition from one dimension to the next. I didn't think I needed it until I got one on several woodworking YouTube channels and whenever I need it I'm grateful I bought it. It has its limitations due to its size and 45 degree side, but once you get a decent pass you can reach your square to finish the line if it needs to be longer than a few inches.
