I've been a fan of Irish Spring and Old Spice for as long as I can remember. As a bar soap I only use Irish Spring. Up until recently I've always used the tried and tested rod shape in the shower and as you'd expect it's always worked great. However, since you are almost certainly reading this to make your decision, buy the gel version. I will focus on that and share my experience with the product over the past few months. For me, the biggest benefit is the convenience of using it with loofah. It lathers much faster and thicker than the bar version, even using the same washcloth. As mentioned, the flavor is much stronger than the bar version (probably 2-4 times stronger I would say). Several people noticed that it had a "chemical" smell. But I've never noticed anything like that. To me it smells like a regular Irish Spring, only more of it. I agree because I obviously like the smell of Irish Spring. My only complaint is that I sometimes have a hard time getting all of the gel to lather quickly. When it's in gel form, it also rinses out of the washcloth too quickly for my liking, thus wasting that bar of soap. But both of these problems have more to do with the fact that my washcloth is quite worn out than with the lathering properties of the gel itself.
