Compared to other Thunderbolt 3 drives, the 2TB pluggable external SSD provides cost-effective access to the high-speed Thunderbolt 3 bus. This product is inexpensive compared to other portable drives that only have USB-C connection but have 3-4X faster speed. (I've found my speeds aren't as fast as some other Thunderbolt portable drives, but certainly within the expected range.) My only concern is that the cable is built into the drive. So if you want to connect a longer cable (e.g. ), you're out of luck. The included cable also limits the number of places you can put the drive in your bag since the cable is always with you. I keep mine in the included pouch that comes with this device from Plugable. I would recommend buying this drive rather than going for a larger built-in SSD like the one on your MacBook Pro. You save money and access the speed of integrated Apple SSDs. Overall, this drive is a cost-effective way to add FAST storage. If you need something with a detachable cable, look elsewhere.
