Review on πŸŒ€ Super Spirograph 75 Piece Jumbo Anniversary: Creative Design Delight! by Gary Morris

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good in theory, not so good in practice

I think I was expecting a "bear-loaded" spirograph kit here to add to my various versions, but I'm a bit disappointed. The box, big and exciting, came in a thin plastic bag. When I opened it I found that the two edges of the box were dented, torn and broken. It's idiotic to ship it that way, especially since I've received orders from Revain like socks or sheets that come in big bubble-wrapped boxes. If I gave it away it would be spoiled. When I opened it I saw a lot less than I expected. as someone else said that every pen and piece of paper provided counts as an item. Real plastic parts aren't 75. Also, as mentioned earlier, this isn't "this" homage to the original. Gone are the pins to securely attach the pieces to the board. They got dried putty to press the wheels in place. Using it requires a certain stability, since the design can be extensive and time-consuming and very light and intentional. The pieces are thin and easily fall off your teeth, especially if you use awkward shapes. They should be perfectly connected and aligned, and that's not quite right. I can't imagine how you manage some complex projects without crashing and crashing. The original Spiro was much thicker and you could fly in circles once you aligned the teeth on the gears and found the right pressure. it's too subtle and, while funny, not clear enough or precise enough to be stable
