I had an idea to try knitting a cotton summer blanket, but I needed instructions and an idea of what the different types of knitting look like. There are MANY high-quality photos in this book, and they are even large enough to be visible and useful ;) Stitch photos are organized by type, with more emphasis on the progression of the stitch image, with "easy, intermediate, expert" classifiers appearing under each photo. It sounds a little counterintuitive, but I like the layout because it's so clear that many of the "easy/beginner" stitches are just as attractive in their own way as some of the "expert" ones. seams. This even applies to the lace and eyelet stitches shown. Braiding certainly has its own section due to its complexity, but even there some stitches look nice despite being fairly easy to follow. The book covers a lot of topics, but I found it more like "antepasto" than a full lasagne, LOL!, because I wanted to see more ;) But there are definitely *lots* of interesting things to try! There is a page that conveniently lists all the abbreviations. and what they mean, so they're easy to refer to when you need to decipher a series of stitch instructions. There are also *several* styles of sweaters, hats, and scarves, but this isn't a "how to knit" book - it's primarily an "encyclopedia of stitches."
