35 miles from coverage area but I'm in a dense forest. So I had to try different locations in the backyard. At some point the connector on the antenna came loose. I decided to just strip the wire and reconnect under the screws and it still works. But still it was not very reliable that it fell down so easily. It works. the higher the better. Try different locations if necessary. For us we had to install in the backyard AWAY from the house as the trees next to the house were a factor blocking the signal. But on the back, the trees are farther away, which allows the signal to recompose into something that could be reached. Now I'm waiting for a 25ft pole and signal booster as I couldn't get NBC (no big loss lol) and some get blocky from time to time. I will add when we tested it (17ft on a pole woven into a ladder, 100ft of cable to TV) we experienced a BIG thunderstorm. We decided to keep it simple and monitor quality rather than a single bug all the time. So that's definitely going to be a big factor in whether we cut the cable. That works, but depending on your situation, you may need to figure out the location to find that middle ground.
