Review on Moog K3166 Control Arm Bushing by William Belczyk

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Despite what Revain says they will fit a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee

First, Revain "Does this part fit your car?" wrong for Jeep Grand Cherokee (WJ) 1999-2004 These are (K3166) the correct front axle top link bushings. Each pack contains two bushings, so you will need two boxes to make all four tops. They are the same front/back and left/right. The body side can be done with a shop press or a hand press as the arm will come out when the screw is loosened. The side axle bushings are more difficult as they are pressed into the axle and not the arm. A hand press (4WD service kit) would make life easier, but I found an air hammer popped them out in about 2 minutes at a time. It is important to remember that you must not tighten the bolts until the car is on its own wheels. If the bushings are tightened before the suspension is loaded, the bushings will be subjected to torsional loading and will fail prematurely. I have used Moog components and have never had a problem and hope they will have the same result. However, I'm deducting a star because these hubs are clearly marked Clevite and not Moog. Basically there is nothing wrong with Clevite sockets, but like Moog they were sold in Moog boxes. After installing the front, the knocking is gone, and two bad bushings are clearly to blame (see picture)!

Pros
  • Very Good Price
Cons
  • Mostly good but...
