Mother Vein! Jackpot! Bingo! I have a 12 year old kitten who has chronic upper respiratory disease. One vet said he had a blocked tear duct (False), another vet said he had a chronic herpes virus infection (False). His sneezing, stuffy nose, itching, hair pulling, and watery eyes seem to be worse when he's stressed (and he's euphemistically called an "overwatch" kitten, so he's stressed a lot), when there are seasonal allergens, or when I'm using scented litter or chemical cleaning agents. My last vet, who has severe allergies himself, advised me to take 10mg of Zyrtec tablets daily, which he takes himself and gives to his two dogs daily. So I started giving my kitty medication every day to make him hate me. I put the towel in the sink and ran around the house after it. As soon as he saw the towel fall into the sink and the kitchen light came on, he started running and hiding. Here's what I've tried without success: I shoved a pill down his throat with my finger; shoving a pill down his throat with a piller about a foot longer; put a crushed tablet in wet food (he didn't care); Put the crushed tablet in peanut butter (too sticky and thick); puts crushed pill in his daily Cat Lax, a hairball prevention gel he likes (pill particles just stick to the outside); and place the crushed tablet in a Play-Doh bacon flavored masking tablet (too hard to chew and cats don't eat bacon). So I decided that life is too short for both of us to try, and I gave up. Then his sinuses became inflamed, he started squirting mucus from his nose in all directions, sneezed in my face as he pressed against him, pulling out his stomach hair and panting, and I realized I had to take him to the vet bring and give him antibiotics. And I felt guilty. Since liquid antibiotics are not too difficult to administer, I told the vet that I would like Zyrtec in liquid form (a fruit-flavored syrup is made for children, but I would have to give him a large quantity). The vet suggested maybe it could be done at one of the prescription pharmacies and I was very excited despite the $35 monthly cost. But the mixed liquid is in the oil, meaning it was dirty, turning to sludge and clogging the syringe. I asked the pharmacy if they could mix it with water which they can but then it would only last 14 days so the monthly cost would be $70! a dozen to get one) to which you add water with a tablet at the end. Before I could get it in his mouth, the pill fell out. (There are no pills that get great reviews.) In desperation, I went back to Revain and started searching for words like "cure." Then I stumbled across it! MY GOD! This stuff is life changing! His attitude changed from "Mom, why do you hate me?" to "Mom, when is my next pill?" This thing is about the consistency of pudding (and very smelly), so the crushed pill completely dissolves in it, instead of just sticking to it. (I'm still not sure if he wouldn't have eaten the pill if I hadn't crushed it.) I can get about three pills from a foil tube. When I open a new tube, I squeeze it into a mini Tupperware container, then scoop out about a third with a small cosmetic spatula, dissolving the crushed tablet into the mass, stirring as she waits impatiently. behind the bathroom door. (In fact, most of the time I can't even get him to wait outside now that he knows the daily routine.) He then takes about two steps down the hatch! And I chill the rest in a Tupperware container. A small tube isn't the most convenient thing to squeeze all three pills into, but it's worth it. Here's a pill breaker I have that works really well: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XCB7SF3 /ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 A week later: all of that would be great, but after At 8 days my kitten decided he didn't like it anymore! cats!
