Review on πŸͺ’ Wood Shave Stand for Razor and Brush - Walnut Finish - Mission Style Design - Fits Standard Size Shave Brushes (Knots 22mm or Less) by Jon Odom

Recommended as a gift for a DE razor

My first reaction to this stand when I opened the box was wow, this item is SMALL. Yes, I know the spec states its size, but I was still stunned at first. The next thing I noticed was that the brush I bought didn't fit, I was disappointed and didn't want to change the size of the hole. I understand that the brush assembly enters the holder with the bristles down and not with the handle going over the hole. Now this little booth makes sense. My razor had a horn handle that didn't fit the groove at the top, but I found that when I rotated the head so it traveled vertically, it balanced fairly well. So after playing around with this stand for about 20 minutes, I went from 2 stars (in my head mind you) to my current 5 stars. It looks great on one side of the vanity, while a matching wooden shaving soap dish on the other completes the look. I didn't want a chromed metal or polished brass stand as I find they look too ostentatious, although I'm sure they work well and the wood just contrasts nicely with the metal of the brush handle and shaving head. Slim and noble. Another reviewer mentioned that the finish looks like cheap paint. I would say the coaster I received has a bit of a sheen to it in places but where it is in an area that gets wet on a daily basis I like the protection of the lacquer. I'm new to DE wet shaving so I'm withholding reviews of my other razors until they're a few miles away. However, this stand has never scratched my face and looks amazing!
