Warning from my dentist about abrasive charcoal that erodes tooth enamel

It was a bit strange at first brushing my teeth with dark gray toothpaste. But I got used to it quickly and tolerated the mint taste quite well. However, after using this toothpaste for only two months, I started brushing my teeth and going to my dental check-up regularly. My dentist was very concerned about the enamel erosion and gingival recession he was seeing, two things he had never mentioned to me. I noticed my toothpaste counter. Apparently, charcoal toothpaste can often cause a lot of problems. After my appointment, I did some research (which I should have done sooner). Of course, the American Dental Association warns that charcoal toothpaste is often too abrasive, which can lead to enamel erosion. Along with increased tooth sensitivity, enamel erosion can make your teeth appear more yellow because worn enamel can expose the yellowish dentin underneath. Carbon particles can accumulate in the cracks and crevices of old teeth and under the gums. In addition, there is virtually no evidence of the effectiveness of whitening. It's time to throw that toothpaste back where it belongs: in the trash.

Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something
