Nice looking but wood slit off

I got this for a gift to my boyfriend. He loved how it looked and how it feels. My issue was that once he was putting the pen and case back in the box where it came in, a slice of the wooden case fell off. This was so embarrassing and disappointing. He still likes it and uses the pen, but the case is now missing a slice of wood.
