I bought this to see if it would be better than my GoPro Hero 2 which is outdated and has very little battery life left. Before I started, I mainly used the bike on country roads and on the track. The video quality is better than the Hero 2 and for around 6 months the battery life has been excellent and reliable. While the battery itself still technically has a long lifespan, it had an internal fault that caused the battery to disconnect and the camera to turn off when subjected to severe shock or vibration. I thought it might be due to a gap in the battery cover, but after I fixed it it happened anyway. It is now intended for gentle handheld and tripod use only. Picture quality is pretty good for the price, but it's not full 4K, it seems to be an artificially upscaled lower resolution format that causes pixelation and/or noise. In low light, this camera becomes blind. No sound quality, that's the first thing that fails during installation. Even my Hero 2 (which has a horribly grainy sound, like everything is being heard through a tin can) has better sound quality. Since I usually only pay attention to a good exhaust note when it comes to a sound, my demands are quite low. Adapters that could easily be mounted on a tripod and a vibration dampener on the clip were much better than the GoPro's small excuse for a mount and accessories. Basically, spend your money on something better. Although I also doubt I'll buy a new GoPro even if they sponsor me and give me a 20% discount. My friend bought one of the new ones and the lens cap/filter was so cracked it couldn't be used for a month. I don't know if it can be replaced, if I spend $300-400 on a GoPro it shouldn't break for many years.
