Pretty pipe but I would say this pipe had at least one thread and maybe two short ones. The pipe thread is tapered and the thread seemed to mate with the male thread. But after the threaded section on the pipe nipple, there was a neat shoulder - and the coupling was screwed to the end, and then it hit the shoulder and stopped. If it wasn't leaking, you were in business—if it was leaking, there was no way to get an extra half-twist over your shoulder. We ended up threading with a threader to add two more over the shoulder - something you don't have to do - to attach the hardware.
