Review on Continental ContiVikingContact 7 205/55 R16 94T winter by Stanislaw Kimsa ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A good quality product, I rate this purchase perfectly.

This is my first experience with friction winter tires. An interesting effect: it seems that there is never a rigid connection between the wheels and the road (even dry and relatively clean), everything is somehow softer and smoother (without a significant difference in reactions compared to summer tires), but it is convenient to drive a car and comfortable. Chose between these Continental and two other options: Goodyear UltraGrip Ice 2 NOKIAN HAKKAPELIITTA R2 I began to look for a reason to travel . nice quality tires on the go. I don't regret buying.

Pros
  • Obedience, controllability. Low noise level, at first it even seemed that the engine began to work louder. They roll much easier than spikes. They slip, of course, but it is almost always easy for the vestibular apparatus to determine this and predictably control the trajectory of movement (of the electronic assistants on my car, there is only ABS). The patency is much better than the studded Gislaved, but somewhat worse than the studded Continental (compare with Nord Frost 100 and the first generation ContiIceContact). Made in Germany.
Cons
  • From size 195/65 R15 95T XL expected a greater difference in ride than from summer wheels in size 205/55 R16 91H (normal pressure). I had to glue a lot of weights when balancing (new forged wheels). The distance must be maintained with a margin, because. move in the stream and on the track, these tires allow you to quickly and frivolously, which dampens and lulls vigilance. You should also avoid steep icy descents or ascents with a limited dynamic corridor, lack of freedom in maneuvering and the ability to take such obstacles at once, because. traction on ice is present (and sometimes even surprising), but it has natural limitations compared to spikes. Although this is more a consequence of the habit of driving in winter exclusively on studded tires. The restaurant price is even more expensive than the pretentious Nokian, all other things being equal.
