Windows can experience a BSoD at any point when operating at 4.2 GHz, even though the temperatures are manageable. Although there have been instances where video encoding with a full load of all 4 cores resulted in the encoder program crashing after a few minutes of encoding, it usually always works correctly at a frequency of 4.0 GHz. In this software, if a core was assigned but left unoccupied, it no longer fell. There were no issues at all at the declared frequencies for turbo mode (up to 3.8 GHz). Given the thermal interaction between the crystal and the Haswell shell, I made no attempt to overclock the processor over 4.2 GHz.
