I bought both the Bunny and the Fox for my 2 granddaughters.5 & 7. My 7 year old granddaughter has been asking me to teach her to sew. We did this during a 'sleepover'.First.the 5 year old could not do this but she was engaged and bossed around her grandpa as he 'helped her' do the sewing. She liked the part about stuffing the fox and all the outfits. She hates to follow directions and her new buzz word is IMPROVISE so she did just that and had a ball. The 7 year old is a stickler about following directions. She and I worked to help her read them (good practice) & learn to follow the pictures. She it took a few minutes for her to learn the running stitch but she was totally focused. Then we went on th make the outfits.I agree with others - this does need supervision at these ages (I knew it's be very hard for the 5 yr old so tht was a given) But, the 7 year old also needed me with her during the making. BUT.that's what Gradpa and I wanted. This took several hours.the girls didn't even want to stop for dinner. That's the longest any craft has evere taken us AND they were 100% committed to it. They were excited to take their new stuffies to bed that night. The next morning, they played dress up with them as they changed the outfits.So.if you want an independedt craft - this is for older kids who are better at reading and following instructions. BUT, the fact is , the younger ones are the ones who want the end result.the little animal and the clothes. This craft was a homerun for us.
