Let's start with the fact that I sleep very well. When I fall asleep at night, I usually do so until morning. In doing so, I also developed an uncanny ability to fall asleep at almost any alarm clock. The standard clock radio I've had for ten years stopped working, so I tried to supplement it with a phone alarm clock. I don't understand why this even seemed a logical idea given the usual small speakers in phones, but I tried to sound two alarms. To no avail, the phone did next to nothing, so I also turned on the phone alert's vibrate feature. The thought that a different noise and vibration noise on the bedside table would be different enough to wake me up and be the solution. Without spoiling the review, all I can say is that it failed again. So after finding out the hard way that my clock radio will automatically go off after an hour if I'm awake and inexplicably late for work (because everyone knows that oversleeping is never a good excuse), I decided to give myself get a new alarm clock. Given my situation where I needed something powerful and money was a secondary factor, I went for it. When I bought it 2 months ago it cost $80 which was quite unusual for something I only use it as an alarm for but given the circumstances I pulled the trigger. Given the size of the product I figured it should be noisy. God I was right. My iPod Nano is always connected to it, and I've used the Nano's playlists as an alarm and the buzzer itself as an additional alarm. The buzzer is far inferior to the sound of the music, but with an interval of 5 minutes, it helps me stay awake, although I hear the music alarm clock every time it goes off. I still find myself hitting the snooze button, but don't worry if you press it once and don't hear it again in 40 minutes. This is by far the loudest alarm clock I've ever heard, and for those who sleep quickly, this is the cure you've been looking for if you're in the same boat. Although I don't use it often for music, the music quality is good too. Won't blow your mind, but I've found myself using it for music in the mornings to get ready for work. It fills the room well, although it does distort at higher volumes (not surprising given the volume you can reach). Another great thing about it is that it saves alarms when you lose power. My simplest radio resets to 12:00 when turned back on and alarms reset the same way. However, this one actually sets the time automatically when you plug it in and even saves the alarm when it's turned back on. Very convenient. One weird bug I want to point out is that it randomly skips tracks on my Nano. Before the song ends, it will abruptly switch to the next track. I have no idea why this is happening or if it's an isolated issue rather than a widespread one, but it's not enough to affect the rating considering it's an alarm clock and not a radio to me . I have one of the Sony portable bluetooth speakers that I use more often when I need to play my iPod, so that's not a problem. This appears to be being phased out, but given the performance, if you find your alarm to be inferior and weak, I highly recommend purchasing one from another seller.
