So I decided to wait a bit knowing I'm allergic to cheap metals and metal fasteners. Overall the strap was fine, it was discolored and starting to smell, but that's what happens when you have a watch with a leather strap that you have to wear 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Besides the smell, once the coating on the metal wore off, I got a rash (see photo). If you're not sensitive to metals, you should be fine, that is, if you're willing to wear and smell leather 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Due to a painful rash, I had to take it off and put on the original Fitbit strap.
