Review on Victrola Improved Bluetooth Ellington VTA 380SB MAH SDF by Michael Hicks

Revainrating 3 out of 5

I insisted on this version of the Victrola with Bluetooth connectivity - the system sounds bad!

Bought this to listen to the classic rock vinyl records I got for Christmas. First the looks. I love the look of it, it's beautiful, doesn't take up much space and I just enjoy the vintage look. Second functions. The player works perfectly, radio and buttons are easy to use, Bluetooth connects easily. There is nothing difficult in it. The antenna could be better, it doesn't pick up many channels. But in general it's ok. Finally sound! I think it sounds terrible! Whatever the price, they should have included a decent speaker. Sounds like the portable transistor radio I carry with me when the weather is bad. A hoarse, tinny sound. Not good! This particular model came out just AFTER Christmas 2020. I believe it was January 3, 2021. Luckily I waited and came across this model as it has Bluetooth output function, otherwise I would have returned it just for the sound quality. So I connected Bluetooth to a small Bose speaker and it sounds good but it's very hard to hear the sonic difference in my vinyl records as I'm using the same speaker that I use for my iPod etc. I'm disappointed that the speaker that came with it was pretty much useless! I just want to be able to listen as it is without needing my own dynamic. But of course that's why they finally made this model that can use Bluetooth, since the speaker that comes with it is of very poor quality! I do not recommend.

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • Nothing
