These things smell really bad. As if the material were giving off a gas. I washed them twice with soap and water and it helped but the smell is still there. One of the training partners joked that he was afraid of getting arm cancer if he hit her. It's funny, but not funny. Now that I have them I use them but I won't buy them again as I know that smell. Functionally they are fine. They didn't crack or break after moderate use, but without the camber typically seen in more expensive pads, punches and kicks are sometimes a little flat (pun intended).
