I recently bought an old Compaq Armada E500 and wanted to factory reset it. My experience buying used hard drives was random and I wanted a better option. I became a fan of SSDs and wanted to convert them to one, but IDE-based SSDs are either rare or expensive, and some of them are terrible. After watching LGR on YouTube for a long time and seeing how it uses alternative storage media, I thought this approach was the best. After this arrived I installed a 32GB Micro Center SDHC card and proceeded with the installation into the Armada. Not only was it recognized immediately, but the recovery process was quick. This is definitely the experience of using a Windows 98 SE computer with an SSD. Everything is fast like my modern SSD machines. I'm considering converting my 23 IDE-based ThinkPads and Macs to solid state with them (well, my ThinkPads are going to be a problem). I fully recommend this for converting old systems to solid state.
