Review on Simplicity Adjustable Plastic Sock Loom Kit: Convenient 4pc Set for Easy Sock Crafting by Carol Miller

I really wanted to like this loom, but unfortunately it didn't work out. The loom arrived quickly but upon opening the package one of the corner pins fell out of the box, whoops, hit one. Upon closer inspection of the "surviving" pens, three others were tiled at odd angles, and it became apparent that they would soon meet the same fate. Second Strike. It was easy to determine that the loom pivots were made from cheap ceramic metal imported from China. Third blow. The machine's plastic frame is thick, strong and light, and if the pens were of better quality it could be a winner, but it isn't. The loom I ordered was a "thin" gauge, meaning the pins are closer together for use with thinner yarns. This makes the workspace small and somewhat difficult to work with, especially if you have hand/wrist mobility issues. Another disadvantage was that the detachable end piece, which allowed different sizes to be knitted, was aimed at right-handed people. I'm left handed and while the loom is running you have to work backwards. Yes, it works, but you need to reprogram your brain a bit. If both ends were detachable, the problem would be solved. Overall it was a great idea, reasonable cost and great potential, but it didn't live up to the quality of the pens. I sent the loom back and ordered a thin 28-bar wooden circular loom on Etsy for just $8. The reviews here show that people have better luck than me with this loom. I have been using looms for many years and this one just made me feel like Boye could have done better.
